Mrs. Aleta Glenell Patton Grissom, age 99, of Laurel Cove in Van Buren County passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at her residence. She was born on May 01, 1927 in Campaign, TN to parents Clifton Patton and Mary Beatrice Duncan Patton. Aleta was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Aleta lived her entire life since marriage in Laurel Cove of Van Buren County, 79 years. She loved the rural farm life. An avid gardener, she provided much of the food for her family. She was also known as an excellent cook. Her greatest love is her family. She hosted family events throughout all her years and holidays and other special occasions that created memories of food, fun, laughter, and family associations. She treasured her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Jesus Christ is in whom she trusted. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Glenn Grissom, Sr., and grandsons Cory Edward Grissom and Adam Grissom.

She is survived by her children Bob (Jackie) Grissom, James Clifton “Jim” (Jan) Grissom, Donna Nell (Jimmy) Grissom, and Jennifer (Glen) Wilson, grandchildren Benjamin (Amber) Grissom, Rachel (Linwood) Estes, Martha (Stephen) Warren, Samuel Grissom, Ethan Grissom, Will Grissom; Kelly (Terry) Lewis, Laura (Spencer) Grissom, Amber (Cole) Delong, Logan (Kim) Grissom, Jordan Grissom, Jaleta Grissom; Latha (Eric) Walker, Shannon (Tanner) Cox, and Saylor (Natalie) Wilson, great grandchildren Austin Grissom, Mila Grissom, Elliot Estes, Emerson Estes, James Estes, Ryder Grissom; Delaney Sullivan, Hannah Sullivan, Taya (Jake) Herriott, Kanen Lewis, Garen Lewis, Tyzie (Tim) Conley, Nakia Grissom, Dallin Grissom, Corlie Grissom, Timber Cagle, Jaderian Grissom (Matthew McCloud), Isom Grissom, Rhode Grissom, Ace Grissom, Xyla Grissom, Zurik Grissom, Reverdy Delong, Syler Delong, Olan Delong, Ari Delong, Tessa Grissom, Jake Grissom, Ellie Jo Grissom, Myanne Grissom, Maven Grissom; Judah Cox, Miles Wilson, and Lance Wilson, great-great grandchildren Branch Conley, Truett Conley, Kori Conley, Clara Conley, Kali Conley, and Myla McCloud.

Funeral services for Aleta Grissom are scheduled for 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 183 Underwood Rd, McMinnville, TN. Interment will follow at Long Cemetery in Van Buren County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and again on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:30 A.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
