Obituary

William Bertlin Glenn, 92, of the Midway Community, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2022.

Mr. Glenn was born the son of Cleveland Anderson Glenn and Vera Lucy Jones Glenn on July 1, 1929. He married Addie Dean Morgan on September 7, 1953. His wife preceded him in death on December 31, 2020. His sister, Eva Warren, and brother-in-law Albert Warren also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jerry Parker of Rock Island, one granddaughter, Stacey (Steven) Elam of McMinnville, great-granddaughter Ava Elam whom he cherished, one surviving brother James (Jean) Glenn of McMinnville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He proudly served in the military at Colorado Springs during the Korean War. Afterwards, he worked in factories from Detroit to McMinnville, from General Motors to Genesco to DeZurik, finally retiring from there.

He was a long-time faithful Christian attending Berea Church of Christ. Among his many past-times, he was proudest of serving the Warren County Fair as a member of the Adult Agriculture Fair Committee, serving the Midway Community as a member of the Midway Community Improvement Club, and working to deliver meals for Meals on Wheels.

He loved dogs, children, gardening, and Midway ballgames. He always kept a huge, immaculate garden, and shared all he could from that garden with his neighbors. During ball season, you could find him at the Midway ball field whittling, talking, eating his favorite Midway burgers, and making and eating homemade ice cream on July 4. For all the thousand things he did in his life, he had at least 10 stories for each one, and was glad to share them with family, friends, and strangers (repeatedly if necessary, and it usually was necessary).

Funeral services were conducted February 8, 2022, in the McMinnville Funeral Home chapel with Brother Richard Bowman officiating. Burial followed at Webb Cemetery on the grounds of Bluff Springs Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boyd Christian School, Webb Cemetery, or Warren County A&L Fair Agriculture Department.

McMinnville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. 931-473-6606.
