Mr. Clyde Alton Smithson age 84 of McMinnville, TN, died Monday August 23, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN.  He was born October 04, 1936, in Cannon County, TN, was a retired nurseryman and farmer, and was a Christian. Mr. Smithson was preceded in death by parents Medford and Naltie Hayes Smithson and brother James Smithson. He was a Christian man with simple values who loved his family dearly. A man of few words, his smile would light-up a room; always with a hint of mischief. He showed his love in quite simple ways and appreciated all that he had. Tinkering with old cars and tractors gave him much pleasure.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn West Smithson, daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Keith Redmon, grandchildren Stacey (Gina) Redmon and Shane Redmon, great-grandchildren Kade, Brittni, Kansas, and Roston Redmon, special first cousin Henry (Pat) Joines, special friends Michael Simpson, Clinton Jones, and Larry Green, sister-in-law Jeanette Smithson, and his beloved dog Rocky Will. Several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were conducted August 27, 2021, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Henry Joines and Michael Simpson officiated. Interment followed at Newtown Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Facial masks were strongly encouraged along with social distancing due to the recent surge in COVID-19
