Mrs. Elsie Jones Newby age 92 of McMinnville, TN, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021, of an extended illness. She was born February 24, 1929, in Smithville, TN, to the late William Daniel and Margaret France Jones. Also preceding her in death was her husband Malcolm Warren Newby, her baby twin infant sons Michael Wallace Newby and Malcolm Warren Newby, Jr., sisters Gillie Allen, Florence Humphrey, Annie Mannon, Mary Jones, Priscilla Warren, Pelina Marsh, Melvina Turner, America Turner, Sue Carter, and Louisa Jennings, brothers Alec, Walter, Cephas, Tommy, Willie, Acquilla, Burgess, and Thurman "Jack" Jones.

She was a member of the Arlington church of Christ. She had been employed at McMinnville Garment Company and later retired from Gould Century. Elsie loved to crochet, quilt, and cross-stitch and loved even more giving gifts of her work to family and friends. She was always a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and daughter and her family will deeply miss their "A-ta".

Elsie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Ken Dodson, grandsons Jeremy Dodson, Josh (Sara) Dodson, and Malcolm Jubal Dodson, and great grandchildren Macy Ann Dodson and Bryce Harrison Dodson, sister Judy Berryhill, sister-in-law Betty Jones, brother-in-law and sister-in-law J.C. (Thedra) Newby Jr. and many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Funeral services were conducted April 17, 2021.  Jon Simmons officiated. Interment followed at Bethlehem Cemetery. The wearing of masks is encouraged and please maintain social distancing. No food at the funeral home please.
