Mr. James Leon (Jim) Carter, Sr. age 87 of Louisville, KY, (formerly of McMinnville, TN) died Friday, February 11, 2022, at Wesley Manor Retirement Center in Louisville, KY. He was born March 02, 1934, in Freeburn, KY, retired from the U.S. Army after serving 22 years that included the honor of serving as a Green Beret, and worked locally with the State Employment Security Department, and was a member of Covenant Fellowship Church. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by parents Robert and Elzoria Slone Carter, sister Myrle Scott, and a brother Carlos Carter.

Survivors include his wife Jo Turner Carter, daughters Angie Roland and Cindy Carter, sons James Leon (Andrena) Carter, Jr. and Doug Carter, grandchildren Alex Carter, Caden Carter, Ashley (Elliott) Tantillo, and Matthew Roland, three great-grandchildren, sister Hazel Smith, and a brother Donald Carter.

Graveside services and interment were conducted February 19, 2022, at Blues Hill Cemetery. Dr. Dean Northcutt officiated. Military grave rites were conducted by American Legion Post 173 and the V.F.W. Post 5064.
