Mr. Joe Porterfield Spain, Jr., age 84, of McMinnville, TN passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Willow Branch Health and Rehab. He was born on November 28, 1940 and was a Church of Christ member. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 24 years achieving the rank of Master Sargeant. His time in the military placed him fighting in the Vietnam War. For 23 years after his service ended, he became a U.S. Postal city mail carrier. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe Spain, Sr. and Nancy Mullican Spain, brother Tommy Spain, and granddaughter Bailey Spain.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Joan Crawford Spain, only child Greg (Robyn) Spain, sister Francie Brown, brother Jimmy (Jackie) Spain, brothers in law Cordell (Miriam) Crawford, Joseph Morgan (Tommie) Crawford, Jr., and Phillip Lee (Marlene) Crawford, sister-in-law Lisa McGregor, granddaughter Lindsey (Chandler) Adams, and great granddaughters Eleanor and Elora Adams. Other grandchildren include Timmy, Troy, and Rylee Benshoff.

Graveside services and inurnment will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Noon Saturday, November 01, 2025, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Cordell Crawford will officiate. Military grave rites will be bestowed by American Legion Post 173 and V.F.W. Post 5064. There will be no visitation at the funeral home as friends will meet the family at the cemetery.
