Reverend Lyon Walkup age 75 of Morrison, TN, died Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. He was a retired ordained Cumberland Presbyterian minister, previously worked in industrial management with Samsonite and Carrier and was a farmer. Mr. Walkup was preceded in death by parents Horace Ray and Fancye Lyon Walkup, brother William Hall Walkup, and nephew David Walkup.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years Joyce Smith Walkup, their children Philip (Shelley) Walkup, Felicia Walkup, and Mandy (Brad) Cabbage, grandchildren Gabriel Walkup and fiancée Kenzi Sawyer, Madison Walkup, Olivia Walkup, Norah Walkup, Ezekiel Walkup, Talan Cabbage, and Baylor Cabbage, sister Ruth (Carl) Ridenour, and brothers Fred Walkup and Ray Gene Walkup. Other family members and family friends survive.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 04, 2020, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Larry Green and Bro. Robby Black officiating. Steve Jones and Elders of previous churches he pastored will serve as honorary pallbearers including Mt. Tabor, Blues Hill, Jerusalem, and Dibrell Cumberland Presbyterian Churches. Interment will follow at Blues Hill Cemetery. The Walkup Family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
