Obituary

Mr. Malcolm James "Jim" Newby, age 87, of McMinnville, TN, died Wednesday, August 16, 2023. He was born October 09, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, was an agent and owner of a local Allstate Insurance Agency, and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Jim was a 50-year Shriner, past president of the McMinnville Jaycees, and a District Governor of the Jaycees. He was essential in getting the approval of Carrier Air Conditioning being located in Warren County, and was an avid bowler running many leagues as well as bringing the Pro Am Tournament to McMinnville. He was preceded in death by his parents Malcolm Patrick and Dovie Frances Phillips Newby and his son James Russell Newby.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 70 years Linda Robinson Newby, children Jackie (David) Bouldin and Tracey (Stan) Pickens, daughter-in-law Tamra (Brent) Pryor, sister Jan (Royce) Bain, brothers Frank Newby, Charles (Jeanie) Newby, and Earl Pepper (Cathy) Newby, sister-in-law Elsie Newby, grandchildren Dave Bouldin (fiancée Shehara), Angela (Jaime) Barraza, Christopher (Jamie) Bouldin, Laura (Michael) Gibson, Jacob Newby (fiancée Kristen), Jessie Newby, Jenna Newby, Cindy (James) Saldana, and Casey (Kaylan) Myers, and fourteen great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted August 19, 2023, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel.  J. T. Jordan officiated. Interment followed at Mt. View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
