Mr. Robert H. Owens age 82 of McMinnville, TN, died Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at his residence. He was born in Maynardville, TN to the late Casey and Anna Lou Webb Owens, and grew up in Dyer, TN where he graduated as valedictorian from Dyer High School in 1954. He served 3 years in the U.S. Marines and graduated from Mississippi State University. Mr. Owens was employed by the State of Tennessee where he was an Area Forrester and served several counties. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church of McMinnville where he worked with the RA's, training union, and taught Sunday School; a member of the American Legion and a member of the Tennessee Forestry Association. He was also preceded in death by his brother Casey Wayne Owens.

Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years Emma Lee Owens, one son Barry (Tonya) Owens, 3 grandchildren Sarah (Blake) Deaton, Casey Owens, and Blake Owens, 2 great grandchildren Brinley Deaton and Levi Deaton, a brother Jerry (Shirley) Owens, and a sister Barbara Owens. Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends also survive.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 03, 2019, at First Baptist Church, 403 N. Spring St., McMinnville, TN  37110. Pastor Jeff Owens will officiate. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Marine Grave Rites will be administered. The Owens family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
