Mr. S. J. Burden, age 96, of McMinnville, TN, died Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville, TN. He was born October 27, 1927, in Liberal, KS, retired as a TSGT with the U S Air Force, previously served with the U S Army Air Corps during the Occupation of Japan, and also retired from A.T. & T. as an operations manager. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, the Masonic Order, Scottish Rite, and Shriners, and was preceded in death by parents Samuel James and Sylvania Parker Burden and a son Steven J. Burden.

Survivors include his wife Nona Burden, twin sons Keith Parker (Kim) Burden and Kevin Wyatt (Rita) Burden, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and inurnment were conducted January 05, 2024, at Knoxville National Cemetery, 939 Tyson St., Knoxville, TN  37917. Military honors were bestowed by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
