Following a lengthy and valiant battle with cancer, Susan Ann Newby, age 70, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native passed away June 06, 2024.  Ms. Newby was born August 11, 1953, and was preceded in death by her parents Bobby William and Reba Jo Hill Newby and a sister Deborah Lee Newby Hall.

She is survived by sister Denise Jo Newby Miller, niece Cameron Leigh Armstrong (Patrick) Conn, nephews John Lawson Armstrong, William Heath (Ashleigh) Armstrong, Thomas Albert Andrew Miller, and John Leon Newby Parton. Other relatives also survive. Susan's wishes were to thank her Southern Standard family for helping her while she was sick. Susan loved her family and friends, community journalism, and good books. She became only the second female to serve the Standard as editor.

Ms. Newby chose cremation with McMinnville Funeral Home handling arrangements. Per her request, there will be no service or visitation.
