Mr. William Louis "Turkey" Battles age 77 of Morrison, TN, died Sunday, October 25, 2020, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was born February 27, 1943, in Coffee County, TN, was a member of Hiawassee Church of Christ, and a crane operator with Yorozu where he worked for 32 years. Louis wore many hats. He was a member of the Warren County A & L Fair Board, a Constable in District 9, served with the Civil Defense, and previously was an employee with Carrier Air Conditioning and served as a Boy Scout Leader in the Morrison area. He enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions, riding his motor cycle, car shows, mowing his lawn, keeping his yardwork done, and was dedicated to performing lots of community work. Mr. Battles was preceded in death by his father Arthur Brown, mother Hattie Elizabeth Wright, brother Rayfield Wright, and sisters Rachel Battles and Gloria Jean Brown-Whitaker.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years (married in 1963) Carolyn Fisher Battles, children Curtis (Kendall) Battles of Murfreesboro, TN, Veronica (Arthur) Battles-Stovall of Winchester, TN, Mark Anthony Battles of Morrison, and Travis Battles of Morrison, brothers Fred Battles of Morrison, Larry Dale (Mary Ann) Battles of Morrison, Calvin Wright of Birmingham, AL, Michael Wright, Sr. of Smithville, TN, and Derek Wright of Manchester, TN, aunt Clara Mae Battles of Pennsylvania, grandchildren Ronnie Battles, Jayden Battles, Leslie Drake, Ariel (Dexter) Drake-Hillis, Skyler Hillis, Mathew Battles, and Jasmine Battles-Ramsey, step-grandchildren Shane Stovall and Tonya Brannon, many nieces and nephews, and 1 great-grandchild on the way.
Funeral services were conducted October 31, 2020. Bro. Jerry Rutledge officiated. Interment followed at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Social distancing and wearing facial masks were strongly encouraged.
